Being a Christian is not about all the prosperity Jesus will give you when you claim him as your Lord. Rather, being a Christian is being saved from the wrath of God as He judges sin. The word "gospel" means "good news." We have some very good news to share with you! You can be saved from God's wrath.
Did you know that you are a sinner? It is true! You have broken God's Law because you were born as a sinner. Let's illustrate it this way. You have probably broken at least one of the 10 Commandments. The Bible says that if you are guilty of breaking just one little commandment, you are guilty of breaking the whole Law (James 2:10).
Since you are a sinner, you are in need of help in order to go to heaven to live with a sinless God. The Bible is very clear about how you can know that you will go to heaven when you die. Jesus became your sin-bearer (substitute) when he died on the cross and rose again from the dead. It is because of his death, burial, and resurrection that you can know that you have eternal life.
Would you be willing to answer a few "What IF's" questions that have their answers directly from the Bible?
WHAT IF there really is a Creator-God? What implications does that make for me, His creation?
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:16–17)
WHAT IF that Creator will hold man, His creation, accountable in a day of judgment?
“But now once at the end of the ages he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. ... it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:26–27)
WHAT IF the Creator-God really loves man, His creation?
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us.” (1 John 3:16)
WHAT IF the Creator-God has a son named Jesus?
“For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (2 Peter 1:16–17)
WHAT IF Jesus is who the Bible claims He is?
-
Eternal God: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1–3)
-
Virgin-born: “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
-
Sinless: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
-
Savior: “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
-
Resurrected Lord: “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and ... was buried, and ... rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
WHAT IF He really is the only way to God, as He claimed to be?
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
WHAT IF I arrive at Heaven’s door with misplaced hope of entering in?
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
WHAT IF I haven’t met God’s requirement for entering in?
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:22–23)
-
What is the requirement? “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:11–12)
WHAT IF I accept God’s gift of His Son, Jesus Christ?
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
-
I am freed from judgment. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not [be condemned]; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24)
-
I am made alive. “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40)
WHAT IF I don’t accept God’s free gift of salvation in His Son, Jesus Christ?
-
I am rejected of God now and eternally. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
-
I am the eternal prisoner of Hell, because I rejected Jesus Christ, Who died to save me from Hell. “But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear him which ... hath power to cast into Hell ... Fear him.” (Luke 12:5)” “The Lord knoweth how to ... reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment.” (2 Peter 2:9)
WHAT IF I accept the gift of eternal life available only in Jesus Christ right now?
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:13)
“[He] that cometh to me I will in no [way] cast out.” (John 6:37)
YOU CAN enter into saving faith right now!
“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved.” (John 10:9)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12)
Based on the authority of these Scriptures, just think, WHAT IF you received Christ today? Just think, WHAT IF you don’t?
